The fourth generation to become FlashAir (W-04) was released in June 2017. FlashAir W-04, the first full model change in its appearance in two years, has greatly improved basic and data transfer performance.
The difference of each FlashAir generation
The W-04 can now read data up to 90MB/s. It also has high-speed transfer of writing up to 70MB/s. This improved performance means that there is no sweat when it becomes necessary to save RAW format images from large-capacity, high-speed, continuous-shooting digital single-lens reflex cameras.
By mounting a newly designed CPU, wireless speeds have been increased by about 2.9 times to allow the exceptional data transfer rate of about 31.4Mbps.
Eyefi Connected is a camera linking function which can control the SD memory card from the camera. When used in conjunction with an Eyefi featured camera, you can prevent the camera power being shut off during data transfer.
When used with UHS-I interface-compatible devices, high-speed performance can be obtained. Corresponding equipment which can utilize the UHS Speed Class3 can get transfer speeds of up to least 30MB/s. Full HD and 4K video recording is also possible.
W-04 has also become less susceptible to interference by other wireless LANs, meaning it is able to transfer data in a stable manner, even in very crowded areas.
i 2C operation, date and time memo saving, wireless LAN On/Off function, etc. have all been added, and the standard library mathematical functions can now be used.
The shared memory has been increased from 512bytes to 2Kbytes.
It makes it easier to share data with each other on the wireless side without writing files. In
addition,
you can avoid the consistency problem of FAT which is likely to occur with the upload function.
Using WebSocket makes it easier to develop applications that communicate with each other and applications that constantly communicate.
